Join the French throng and bag a bargain at the annual LA GRANDE BRADERIE DE LILLE, one of Europe’s most grandiose flea markets.
In an event dating back to Medieval times, each September Lille locals line the pavement all over the city centre and offer up for sale all manner of trash and treasure to anyone wanting to part with their hard-earned.

BORDEAUX’s Grand Déballage de Brocante takes place four times a year on the Place Saint-Michel, near the quayside and Saint-Michel Church.
Visitors can enjoy crowd-free streets and search for bargains at one of the country’s largest flea markets.

Lyon has since the Middle Ages been the ‘city of silk’ in France, providing the nation and Europe with a great selection of silks and silk related products.
This fascinating exhibition is concerned with all things silken, and takes visitors on an interesting tour of the history of the industry.
It has a fully working silk workshop within the museum that demonstrates the practice and allows members of the public to try their hand at the art form.

- SAND SCULPTURE FESTIVAL
- LE TOUQUET
Every year, Le Touquet’s Paris Plage (next to the Aqualud) hosts a summer-long sand sculpture festival.
Le Touquet beach is transformed with eleborate Sculptures de Sables, or sand sculptures, appearing. The annual event is a long standing tradition, and many sculptors go to great lengths to produce the most spectacular piece of art, which mostly based on events or people.
The themes, and the sculptures themselves, get more elaborate every year. This year’s theme is African Safari.
